Bigger Start-Up Armies!

Post by spedius01 »

Ave

In the spirit of modding, I read an interesting post a while back written by zakblood. here
He outlined what he then considered to be a "cheat".

I've modded his mod as follows:-

01. From the Army Camp press the "Design a Multiplayer Army Offline" button.
02. Select Romans, 5,000 denari and 15,000 xp.
03. Recruit a Roman army (within the budget) you'd like to start the campaign with.
04. Promote and equip this army until all money and xp are used up.
05. Save this army using an easy to recognize name (eg. Spedius).
06. Quit the game.
07. Go into the Save Games directory in your installed version of Legion Arena on your hard drive
08. You will see several files all with army... as the first part of their name.
09. Make back-up copies of all these files plus Current.dat.
10. Here's the hard part, move the Current.dat file to a safe place.
11. Rename the last army.. file Current.dat, and restart Legion Arena.
12. Once you're back in the Army Camp again, press the save button
13. Select the file named Spedius and you will find the file you renamed
14. You are now at the start of the Roman campaign with a larger, promoted and equipped army
15. You may find that it will take a few battles before you begin to gain xp.

A similar procedure should work for the Celtic campaign. If not, let me know and we can puzzle it out together

Enjoy.

PS. As alternatives to #03 & 04, check out the ready-made armies, press the save button and there they are!

alternativly you can do the really easy way:

Design a multiplayer Army with the full specs you want, all troops etc offline.
Alt+F4 out of the game.
Reload the Game et voila, new aemy for use without so much as having to edit a single file.

Ave grimsta,

Does that really work?

What does Alt+F4 do?

Are you bucking for my role as "modder of the day"?

Although, having said that, I haven't done all that much recently.
