Which army of the period counters swiss army best? Poland/Russia/Sweden?

Would want as much shooting as possible preferably arquebus.

Actually the Italian list does pretty well if you use your skirmishers and light horse well, and keep your heavies safe until the right moment...

As Warlord said I have found Russian to be effective, but it is still hard work. I use as much cavalry as possible, they are all superior and all shoot, have limited armour so aren't quite cost efficient.
The plan is to eliminate all their skirmishers and then to totally surround the pike. The units in front move into shooting range and blast away, when charged they will break off after the melee combat, then shoot again. Any cavalry that get behind the pike charge them in the rear and disrupt them, after that whichever way they turn you should have a unit available to charge them in the rear and fragment then break them.
The most effective plan for the Swiss is to maintain a single line of pike and keep pushing forward and slowly cracking the morale of the cavalry to the front. Getting units behind the cavalry so they can't break off will make them break much quicker. Having lots of forests to hide their skirmishers in helps.
If the Russians can isolate individual pike units then the Swiss will crumble. If the pike can mostly stay together then it is likely to be a Swiss victory. Either way its a tough, exciting game. A good human opponent is definitely tougher than taking on the AI, although that does play a good game.

Good luck, and enjoy the game
