Pike - Pursuing 3 Tiles - Not Disrupted

Post by Old_Warrior »

Pike vs. Pike combat - one of the pike units breaks. The other pursues it for 3 tiles yet is not disrupted.

Anyone here that thinks a Pike unit could follow up after another unit, keep a coherent formation, again, I have swampland for sale for you in Florida.

Units that pursue should be Disrupted during the pursuit. Especially a pike formation.

Oh - someone is going to say that its the "lead elements of the pike formation" (i.e. the shot part of it) that are "nipping at their heels" while the rest of the pike unit follows up at a normal pace.

Then why 3 tiles?

Pursuit by a pike unit should be no more than ONE tile. First there was Melee that round. That must account for some of the time. Next, for the unit to suddenly rouse itself after its been involved in melee for several rounds and take off after an enemy that is running away in no formation at all ... and be Steady ... is unrealistic.

Here is a screenshot of the unit in question:

I would have to agree. Of course it should be a possibility for this situation to occur but only very rarely.
