I don't understand what this new WWII version is

Order of Battle is a series of operational WW2 games starting with the Pacific War and then on to Europe!

I don't understand what this new WWII version is

Post by FroBodine »

I bought the original Order of Battle: Pacific. What is this new WWII version? I don't understand the difference.

Do I automatically get this new version for free, please?

Thank you. Any insight on what this new version is all about would be greatly appreciated. The store page doesn't really explain it very well.

The campaigns in OoB-Pacific have been split into 2 DLC: US Pacific and Rising Sun. The base game - now called OoB - World War II - is now free, containing the bootcamp campaign and a preview of each DLC.

The latest patch will convert any existing OoB-Pacific installation to OoB-WW2 with both "new" Pacific DLCs unlocked. If you already own all current DLC than the update won't add that much for you right now, but future DLCs will also have their first mission playable for free.

To expand slightly on what Adherbal said:

What used to be the base game (i.e. the US Pacific and Japanese (Rising Sun) campaigns) have been split into two (paid for) campaigns. The boot-camp campaign and the first campaign of every DLC can now be tried for free. You'll also have access to MP and the editor, which aren't in the free base game until the player purchases a campaign.

As you owned the game already, you'll find that in the new version you already have the two pacific campaigns. In addition, you can now try out the first scenario of any DLC campaigns that you didn't already own.
