Fall Back - Issues

Post by Old_Warrior »

When a unit falls back ... the unit that it was in melee with cannot move in the next movement phase. Thus setting it up for an easy flank attack if the opportunity is there. Yes, it can change facing one tile (45 degrees either way) but it cannot move at all. Why?

The example I cite is from a battle I am playing - two cavalry units were fighting - one of them fell back - the other was stuck. It could not move and only had limited facing ability.

Hoping this gets changed to where it can at least change facing in any direction.

This is intended. Troops cannot move if they fought in the immedately preceding melee phase.

If the break off occurred prior to that, they can move.

Well its not like you can plan it .. attacking them with cavalry ... hoping that the cavalry falls back ... then flank them.

But troops that had cavalry back away from them are "pinned" for yet another turn it seems. Logic would say that the unit is no longer pinned in place.

Not if the cavalry charge them in their turn and bounce off after the impact phase.

The only time cavalry are likely to bounce off after the melee phase is if the infantry rally from disrupted to steady, in which case I can't see why it should be considered unreasonable that they should not be able to move this turn. If it is their turn after they break off, the cavalry can't move either.

This is working as intended and we have no plans to change it.
