Thumbs up for the new game

Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun is a turn-based tactical and strategic game set during this turbulent time; primarily focusing on the Japanese Warring States period and Japanese Invasion of Korea. Other armies from East Asia are also made available to simulate different conflicts across the region.

Thumbs up for the new game

Post by ARB »

Just a quick post to say how much I like the new game. After playing hex based pbem games from Talonsoft/HPS/John Tiller since the 90s I'm finding Sengoku Jidai, and Pike and Shot (which I bought a few months ago), very refreshing, with some fairly sophisticated mechanisms and features. I'm amazed to find a game where the AI actually puts up a good fight too! I also like the limitations that the game places on you which take away some of the unrealistic and gamey tactics that some other games encourage.

I love the look of this new game too, including the map art. I can see why some people don't get on with it but, for me, it's very aesthetically pleasing, and adds to the sense of immersion in the historical and geographical setting. If I were to make any suggestions at all regarding graphics, it would be to display a few casualties on the ground where fighting is or has taken place to add further to the sense of immersion in the drama, but it's only a minor detail.

I hope the game sells well and proves to be another success for you guys who worked on it!
