Efficiency asnd movement: How does it work

Post by Leeabe51 »

I am playing the US campaign on easiest difficulty as I try to learn the game, and I noticed that often times when I move a unit to a hex that has a -1 or higher efficiency reduction, it doesn't actually do anything. For example if I move an infantry into a jungle with a -1 bubble, my efficiency stays at 10 more often than not (not health, but the battery statistic). Seems my tanks are more likely to get a reduction from movement than infantry, but it can happen with any unit, and no matter if there are roads or not. I haven't been able to determine how it works. Is there only a chance that you will get the stated efficiency reduction?

Thanks...

It's been awhile since I last play this game but IiRC the movement into difficult terrain will cause you to lose efficiency. Marines however are not affected by it and they do not lose efficiency due to difficult terrain. Tanks or vehicle suffers greater penalty on movement into difficult terrain.

a tip is to ask Erik he can answer you better thx

It really depends on unit traits. Units with "light tread" have reduced efficiency penalty when crossing difficult terrain. Units with "guerrilla" trait have the efficiency penalty completely removed.

Thanks guys. I will pay closer attention to traits, but I could have have sworn I have seen it happen with something like an AT gun that had no movement traits. Moved into a -1 tile and its efficiency stayed at 10.

I assumed when you see the bubble pop up with a -0, that means its traits negated the efficiency hit, but I guess not.
