Pursuing and conforming

Post by diego66ro »

Hi all
last night I had this situation:

........SpSpSpSp
........SpSpSpSp
CvCv
CvCv
KnKnKn
....Kn

4Kn fight 4Cv, that break, loose a base, then goes in rout, make a VMD of 3MU; the Kn pursue with a VMD of 4MU, but after 2MU they impact the Sp:
Can the Kn "Step Forward" to contact the Cv?

Cv
CvCvSpSpSpSp
KnKnSpSpSpSp
....KnKn

If yes, after the Cv goes in rout again or die, the stepped forward Kn on the left must align to the Kn who fight the Sp or can/must remain stepped forward?

The knights stay in contact with both the Cv and the Sp.
Note: Since being in contact with a broken enemy does not count as being 'in combat' then the first Kn in contact with the Cv is elegible to fight as an overlap, and the knigh on the very left can move to the right of the line as part of the 'Feeding more bases into an existing combat' rule.

Once the Cv have left contact with the knights, then the stepped forward knights must move back to line up with the rest of its BG

Does this mean that a BG which is in contact with only routers can be fired at?

It had been my understanding (I may be wrong) that if you were in contact you were counted as being in combat, but in the case of routers the result was carried out in the JAP (i.e. if you keep up you kill a base)

It would also mean a BG could evade as well, if capable of doing so, if in contact only with routers.

It does say "...battle groups are deemed to be in close combat until one side breaks off, breaks or is destroyed..."
