Labrador and Inishowen
Again I want to bring up some map issues:
1. The Inishowen peninsula, with Malin Head - the northernmost spot on the island of Ireland - is shown in CEAW as belonging to N. Ireland. It is, in fact, part of the Republic. I appreciate that Our Wee Country is... wee and units must have a place to stand on
but...
2. The island of Newfoundland is shown as "out of play". That is correct as it did not join Canada until 1949 however Labrador, on the mainland, was (and is) also part of Newfoundland and as such should also be out of play, should it not?

Hi,
We are at least discussing the possibility to change the coastline.
Are you from Ireland? We are wondering about the terrain. Are there any hexes that should be forest? What about Rough hexes? Any locations that need to be changed.
Thanks in advance

Re: Labrador and Inishowen
Labrador is off map in GS v3.20 except the airport of Goose Bay. Newfoundland is offmap except St. John's (port city), Gander and Stephenville (airports).
The North America map is quite different in GS v3.20. It's tilted slightly to fit more of the US coast line so USA is not so condensed as it waas. That means we could place cities like Philadelphia and Wilmington on the map.

As far as the topography of Ireland goes - and yes, I do live there - you have it pretty accurate. No need to change anything unless you want to go into minute detail.
The forests are small and scattered and many of them are in mountainous territory - which you already have as rough terrain.

Re: Labrador and Inishowen
We have a new terrain type called forest hills now so we could use those for rough hexes with forests in them. Please suggest which rough hexes you think could have forests.
It also looks like Northern Ireland is slightly too big so we might alter the border slightly too (southwestern part of Northern Ireland). The border will be placed in the middle of some hexes so we just have to give one hex to one and another hex to the other so the overall shape doesn't become too distorted.
Pk867 is working on an update that will make the peninsula you mentioned on the Irish side. By altering the map it will be possible to move from the peninsula to the other side in Northern Ireland across the bay since the hexes are adjacent, but that can't be helped.
Any rivers or lakes in Ireland that should be on the map? Lakes will be to small to warrant a separate lake hex, but it could become a river hex side.'
Do you have any comments about the Irish cities / towns (Dublin, Cork and Galway on the map) and Irish OOB? Should e. g. Limerick or Waterford be on the map?
We have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4rd and 6th brigade on the map as garrison units. Maybe they should have different names like: LDF Southern, LDF Curragh, LDF Western, LDF Eastern. Western couldn be in Galway, Southern in Cork, Eastern in Dublin and Curragh slightly west of Dublin. That means 4 garrison units.
The entire Irish army is supposed to be about 88.000 man. So 5 units might not be so bad. We have placed a unit north of Dublin in the direction of Belfast as the 5th unit.
This is the best data we have for Irish units:

Suggestions for OOB improvements?

Re: Labrador and Inishowen
As far as Irish lakes go, my home town is on the shores of Lough Neagh which is the largest lake on the British isles. In fact, if you exclude Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland looks like a donut with Lough Neagh in the midst of it. If made to scale, the lake would take up the bigger part of a hex which would make it a bit awkward.
There are also Upper and Lower Lough Erne in Co. Fermanagh - the SW of N. Ireland - which could be shown for accuracy but should have no effect in the movement of units.
There are also some scattered smaller lakes in the south.
Here's a good topographical map of Ireland: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=5343

As far as the Irish army goes, I think 5 units is excessive.
2-3 garrisons is more like it but even so, it would give the player the false impression that the south is stronger militarily than the North - which is hardly the case.

There are just one unit in Galway and another in Cork. In Dublin you have a unit and some between Dublin and the border to Northern Ireland. These extra units could be removed of course to just garrison the 3 named locations in Ireland.

We altered the Irish OOB so you only get a corps in Dublin, Cork and Galway.
