My Compliments to the Chef[s]!
Back when I was a kid, my brother & I used to play all kinds of board games, from Monopoly & Clue, to sports games [Strat-O-Matic], to our favorites, strategic & tactical Avalon Hill war games. Even after I had kids, continued playing -- with them -- 1776, Geronimo, Panzer Blitz, etc. Once the PC came into play, I lived on Sid Meier's Gettysburg, and then Ageod's games, particularly their Civil War title. Retired now, and I have purchased a lot of games - mostly, Ageod's - but for the most part, the only game I would actually play for extended periods was Civil War II. That is, until I recently discovered Order of Battle.
This game has me totally immersed. As I have stated here before, it looks & sounds great. It is about the only game that I have ever left the music on - albeit softly - while I play. The maps & units are clear & sharp looking. Most of all, I love the feel of the game. Mostly, it is very intuitive -- even for a geezer -- I ran through the tutorials, then perused the manual, and I was on my way. Got stuck with mechanics a few times, but people here on this forum quickly showed me the way. I started the main game, as the USA, several times, got through to just before the Okinawa battle and then Marines was released. I have now played that one up to Iwo Jima. [just started that one]. Lots of good fun and I'm almost ready to go back to the original game. Not sure about re-playability value, but I think it will be pretty good as I am playing against the AI at only the 2nd level. Many of the battles I have had to replay a second or third time to be victorious. Now that I'm getting better, I'll bump it up - can't imagine stomping the Japs on the higher levels. So, it appears to me it will remain a challenge for some time -- like forever, probably!
Now I see you have a new add-on in the beta phase. Wow! Consider my copy purchased.
I love everything about this game, including the diligence of the developers & moderator. Great team; great product. I wish you all the best with what I know is a tough genre these days.
My wish list would be very short -- just that you keep on keeping on and, maybe, add just a tad more historical options to it over time. Btw, I have the Panzer Corps "suite" installed on my system. Have only tinkered with it. Seems that the mechanics are quite similar, but it lacks the depth that Order of Battle seems to provide.
Thank you for a wonderful game with which to pass some time and keep the old brain functioning & focused! PS -- my 93 year old Uncle was a sailor in the Pacific theater for most of the major engagements, including the Coral Sea, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima ... served on the USS Langley, among other carrier groups. He's still sharp as a tack. When I play, I can imagine the bravery & fear he must have experienced. It's just an added touch!

Remember to leave a review (if you are a Steam player) if you enjoy the game. People are generally more likely to take the internet with complaints than praise
