Does this mean the FoGR Doubles won't be in Abingdon, as it has the past two years?

Yes. Its now a few miles away in Daventry (at what by all accounts is a very nice and popular venue)

BHGS Ancients & FoGR Doubles

October 22 - 23, 2016

This years Doubles combines a FoGR event with parallel competitions for 4 different sets of Ancient rules, and takes place on the weekend 22-23 October.

The BHGS Ancients & Renaissance Doubles competition covers FoGAM, DBMM, FoGR, L'Art de la Guerre and Mortem et Gloriam. All 5 events will be played in 15mm and are for teams of 2 players, each commanding around half of a larger-than-normal army on a standard-sized table. Entry fees are per team of two people.

The event will take place at Battlefield Hobbies in Daventry

Bookings can be made at http://www.bhgs.org.uk/bhgs-doubles--pairs.html

A plea for reinforcements for this event - does anyone have some Habsburg Austrian Imperial troops (or anything that looks like them) that they won't be using themselves, and that I could borrow for this competition, as allies for my Bavarians? I was thinking of having a Saxon/Polish-Lithuanian combo, but painting time has now disappeared due to other commitments, so it's down to what's already in the cupboard.....

Send me a PM and I'll give you a shopping list - it's not huge as the Bavarians will form the main force.

Folks

We currently only have 2 teams signed up for the FoGR doubles - are there any more of you lurking out there who are planning on coming but who haven't yet booked, as most of the other periods are some way ahead of these numbers already...? DBMM has 7, ADLG has 8, FoGAM has 4 and MeG is on 3 as of today.

I am thinking that if we are looking thin on the ground it may be possible to swap FoGR to a singles event for example?

Team so far are:
FoGR Doubles Team Brendan Morrissey David Hewkin
FoGR Doubles Team Dene Green Ray Boyles

Hi Tim,

Just got your email, but had problems replying so thought I'd do it on here instead. My choices would be, in order of preference:-
1) Split us up and go for a FoGR singles competition - preferably same period, but simpler armies and fewer points (however, this would replicate the Warfare FoG:R theme - would that cause any problems?).
2) Failing that, drop out all together and have a refund.

As you may know, we've had a lot of call-offs for our Italian Wars Southern League round this Sunday as well. I'm not sure if it's "competition fatigue" or something equally general, but I've also noticed most of the doubles competitions this year (Usk, Burton, Devizes) have had fewer entries than 2015 and 2014, and more one-player teams involved as well. Maybe re-think the format?

Cheers,
RtL (Brendan)

Re: BHGS Doubles 2016 NOW SINGLES??

Post by madaxeman »

Thanks Brendan

With 2 teams entered we have the option of finding 2 more players and making this a 6-person singles event.

To do this would need, erm, 2 more singles players.

Is anyone out there interested in this option?

Having emailed all of our FoGR players, unfortunately no-one new has been able to arrange to play and so unfortunately this event is being cancelled.

We'll be offering both teams the opportunity to transfer or to have a full refund
