complex move if you take/pass a CMT - is it optional

Post by timmy1 »

This came up in a game yesterday. If a player takes and passes a CMT, is he obligated to then undertake a move that is complex or can he choose to make a simple move? We played the latter but the rules sections we read did not seem totally clear cut.

P 41 just says "A complex move requires a test to be passed before it can be made." If you may want to do a complex move, roll the CMT and then decide on your move - no point in pondering moves you won't be able to make.

The sequence of movement requires more care when getting the intended results is CMT-dependent.

If you take the test for a BG that BG must move before any others move, pass or fail. That is the important bit. They don't have to do something complex if they pass.
