Double Moves. Pros and Cons? And other questions.

Post by Vargas78 »

I only just bought the game today and have been enjoying it. Reminds me a bit of Great Battles series by imagic in the mid to late 90's. I've noticed there is the double moves option which gives your units more moving range, if its a clear area. Though it wasnt enabled by default. Do most the veterans prefer to play with this mode on or off? If most online matches use it i might start enabling it.

Also, does the hand symbol mean that the unit is outside of a commanders range? I've noticed that does with the hand symbol only have one move. But i've also noticed the hand symbol in games that dont have double move so does that mean that they get a penalty in combat due to being out of the commanders range?

The vast majority of online players, in my experience, prefer to play with double-moves on, and it's obligatory in most competitions.

You're right about the little hand symbol, it means that the unit is out of command radius. Units in command radius are able to double-move, if far enough away from any enemy unit (5 hexes or more?). They also receive bonuses on morale checks and are less likely to anarchy charge, but it doesn't give them an combat bonus as far as I am aware.

Best Wishes

And only receive bonuses for non-impact, non-melee combat checks such as adjacent unit routing, missile combat.
