Useless light bombers

Hi

Still hacking through the training I purchased some devastators
on the penultimate training mission (the one before Tarawa im
at work and cant remember the name).
Anyhow once I had them I discovered they had no Bombs in fact
no offensive capability at all.
I don't see where I could have pre-loaded the bombs and if I buy
a carrier to land them on and bomb up the I wont have much
in the way of ground troops (unless carriers are cheap which I
rather doubt), cant see you send out bombers with no bombs
what is the point ?
Can someone tell me what I am supposed to do with these or
are they just target practice for zeros (or Oscars).

You should have the option to switch certain types of tactical bombers from torpedo-loadout to bombs (and vice versa) when they're landed on a carrier or airbase. Torpedoes are quite good for attacks vs. big ships, but the planes need to go back to base to re-arm soon. Bombs are better for attacking land targets or smaller ships.

When buying tac bombers there should be (T) or (B) additions to the names of certain types, indicating the loadout they start with. For example you can decide to buy the Devastator starting with bombs *OR* torpedoes, but the Dauntless is available with bombs only, since this was its historical role.
