US Marines changelist preview

Post by adherbal »

New Units
  1. M2A4 Light Tank
    DUKW Amphibious Truck
    Marine Scouts
    Mortar Infantry
    F2A Buffalo
    Captured Shinhoto Chi-Ha medium tank
    Captured Type 91 70mm howitzer
Captured Type 1 Ka-Mi amphibious tank
    BB Kongō
    Concrete Bunkers
Gameplay
  1. Heavy Infantry: Can now use a Mortar Fire ability which serves as a light, short-ranged artillery weapon
When reforming a destroyed core unit, 30% experience is recovered
When using standard repair, experience loss is less significant
Engineers and Seabees automatically repair damage to the supply output of their hex
    Destroyers: Small Air Attack increased
Ground AA guns: Small Air Attack decreased
AI
  1. AI less likely to abandon a threatened VP for "obscure reasons"
AI fighter aircraft give higher priority to attacking other air units instead of strafing ground targets
Editor
  1. Deployment Points: Now have "available from" and "available until" values (turns).
Clicking a nation flag in the Alliances panel will move it up in the list
Ability to purchase new units can be enabled or disabled per nation
New Trigger Effect to change hex supply output
Trigger Effect "Set Unit AI Team" extended to allow - for example - units patrolling back and forth

Love this. Now I would actually buy Heavy infantry for the utility :)

Can be useful sometimes, probably on highest difficulty.
adherbal wrote: When using standard repair, experience loss is less significant
Quite nice for the auxiliary units.
adherbal wrote: Engineers and Seabees automatically repair damage to the supply output of their hex
I don't quite understand what it means. Can you please elaborate on an example?

I like this.

Not sure about this one. I think if AA guns get weaker, there will be little point to buy them.

Strategic bombers can reduce the supply output of hexes. Engineers can now repair this damage over time by sitting idle on that hex.

This is especially important for the new Guadalcanal scenario where Japanese bombers tend to hit the airfield a lot, reducing the amount of air supply available to keep aircraft on full efficiency.

As for AA guns, they used to deal 4-5 or more damage in a single attack. When combined with support fire during the opponent's previous turn that could sometimes destroy a slightly damaged aircraft in a single turn cycle.

Will these changes apply to the base game as well, where appropriate?

:D Good list of changes!!!
Especially the AA ground Units must got weaker!! I once saw a 20mm Unit shooting 6!!! Points out of a full P-38 Unit with a Hero in it. Also it makes no sence that the japanese loose their ability to field better pilots then the US because of cribbling losses over Pearl Harbor. Also "the cripple the enemy with flak then shoot him down tactic" feels like cheating!!!!!!

Is there a very rough idea of when this patch will be released?

The developers said March, so it shouldn't be that long.

We needed a bit more time to test out the content so had to push back to April.
