Night turns?

I would really like to see night turns.
It could be a simple device (can you see I'm a non-programmer?) where all recon is limited to the hex next to a unit and air units are not allowed to launch.
Maybe an option to slightly darken the map.
It could be invoked by setting up a trigger/event making the current turn a night turn.
I think it would make for some interesting scenarios where unit go bump in the dark.

We had a day/night effect in the game during some point in the development. But not only would (good) night visuals be a substantial amount of work, it didn't really fit with the game's scale and scope. It's more of a tactical level thing (like BA).

Yes, I know it would make more sense the lower you go with map/unit sizes.
I just finished one custom campaign with platoon units where there are a few night scenarios and I've started another one as well.
So that's when the idea hit me.

And I must say that OOB is quite suitable as a tactical vs the more common operational game.
I may have to increase artillery ranges though. Should be an easy mod.

You could also try to give 1 or 2 range to all other unit types. Altho with the lack of line of fire obstructions from buildings and other units that may get weird.

Perhaps we could add some features to allow tactical level gameplay in the future, but not before we're done with all the other stuff on our to-do list!
