BHGS Challenge 2016
The BHGS Challenge is our second largest tournament of the year, with a 5-round (or more in some periods) competition running over the weekend of 17/18/19th June. This year we are back at Oxford Brookes University, where you can book onsite accommodation as a bolt-on to your entry fee, although there are of course also plenty of places nearby and we are also offering practice and friendly game facilities on Friday.
You can find details and book online at http://www.bhgs.org.uk/the-challenge.html
This year's event will feature the following competitions
FoG:AM 15mm
FoG:R 15mm
DBMM 15mm
Epic Armageddon
Bolt Action
L'Art de la Guerre 15mm
Flames of War
DBM 15mm & 25mm
Blucher 6mm
We will offer other periods if umpires/hosts are able to come forward
Details of all periods are available on the BHGS Website.
Aside from L'Art de la Guerre and Bolt Action all periods will be run in the traditional Challenge 5-games Swiss Chess format.
There will also be onsite catering available at this years BHGS Challenge throughout the two days of the competition.
Lunch will be a buffet, available from around 11.00 am both days with the cafeteria staying open until around 6.00pm on Saturday and 1.00pm Sunday.
The lunch buffet is included in the "full board" residents rate but can also be bought on the day
Breakfast will be available from 7 or 7.30 (TBC) for residents and also open to any early arriving non residents.
Friday evening non-residents can also buy food onsite
We now also have BEER for sale over lunch and in the evening, at student rates.
Juniors (Under 18) get discounted entry by using the code BHGSUNDER18 when booking.
Where there is a theme specified we are working it as we speak, but these periods will definately be offered - full information will be published as soon as we have it.
If you do want to book early and find that we end up choosing a set of lists, special rules, table sizes or game durations you can't do or don't like, we will offer a full refund so please don't let that put you off booking in early!
The Small Print
LOW NUMBERS
In the event that there are insufficient players to make your chosen period viable (normally fewer than 6 players), you will be offered the option to switch to another period or a full refund.
GENERAL ENTRY CONDITIONS
Admission to any BHGS tournament is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. If any entrant breaches these rules, commits a criminal offence, causes disruption during the competition (including to public, traders or staff at the venue) or causes or threatens to cause damage to property at the venue the BHGS’s representative on the day will be entitled in his or her absolute discretion to require that player to leave the competition and the venue immediately, without any refund. In such cases we are likely also to refuse entry to future events
ARMY LISTS
Late submission of army lists is your best and most effective way to make the lives of the many kind, selfless and generous people who organise these events for you a real misery. Please therefore try to submit your list in good time. Deadline dates and list checkers will be published on the BHGS website and communicated to players. The BHGS reserve the right to inflict any one of a wide range of as yet unspecified grave, horrible, humiliating and potentially personally painful penalties on anyone who submits a late list. Especially if you are a repeat offender. You know who you are.... so be careful !

Re: BHGS Challenge 2016
Some quick-out-of-the-blocks signups this year meaning that we're currently on 42 bookings overall.
This is already some way up on last year (when we had 26 players signed up by by Feb 1st, despite opening bookings almost a month sooner)

I worry that this will look very much the Badcon draw 90% Early Catholics and Protestants with the odd Hugenot, Austrian and Gustavian thrown in, feel not enough choice allowed, anyway just my thoughts

Re: BHGS Challenge 2016
With this being a particularly uninspiring bank holiday weather-wise, equally unsuitable for DIY or going to the seaside, and with - unusually - Zulu not playing on any terrestrial channel either - many of you may be indoors browsing t'internet... in which case the time is ideal to book into the BHGS Challenge (and Britcon!)

We're still sat on 7 entries for the Challenge - so any latecomers able to even up the numbers would be most welcome !

Re: BHGS Challenge 2016
I could make it up to 10 BUT I would have to leave early on Sunday afternoon (about 15:15) to catch a flight.kevinj wrote:We're actually up to 9 now. It's better, but still odd!
I would be willing to cut my lunch break, have umpire generated scenery and start an extra 6 inches in to give a quick last game but would anybody else be happy to do that, particularly if it mattered to the final result?
Just a thought

I would be happy to assist with that assuming that I am anywhere near you in the table.
