Missing Medal

I've returned after a long time to Panzer Corps to continue my last Grand Campaign where I left it, right before Albert Canal. While checking my units I realised a towed 10,5 cm artillery with 148 kills but no medal. If I remember correctly a unit should earn it's first medal when reaching 100 kills and the first hero somewhere between 101 and 300. I think this must be a bug, but if this means that my unit won't get a medal and more important probably no hero, then I should definatly sell it and buy a new one. Any advise would be appreciated. I really don't wont to continue with a "handicaped" unit. Has anyone experienced similar things?

I have one and I am in the 1942 campaign I thought it was just a glitch, but it looks like it effects more than just one person.

I just checked real quick and it has 244 kills but no hero and no medal.

I will be upset if he is unable to get a hero, but I do not think I will sell him, because he has so much experience and I kind of like owning a glitch unit.
Is that weird?

I've sold it and bought a new sIG33. I want some self propelled artillery anyway, to allow my units some cover when advancing rapidly.

viewtopic.php?t=31739 second entry shows that you are not guaranteed a hero until you get 300 kills, although you should have got a medal at 100. The medal could be "in the post", or on the chest of an undeserving middle ranking officer.

As for the hero, your 244 kill unit is simply developing its special skills in a thorough and methodical way, rather than aiming for instant gratification like the other attention-seeking units!

Verdict is in...after like 286 kills This glitch artillery did get a +2 attack hero.
Boom!

Still no medal however.

I will see if once I get 400 kills if it does not get an Iron Cross 1st Class I will make a report to my superior officer.

I kind of like this glitchy unit.

I forgot about this until I was perusing the old threads, so I checked my glitch unit when I came home.

He was awarded a +2 attack hero and when he got his 400th kill he was awarded his Iron Cross 1st Class.

In his history though it shows he did not earn an Iron Cross 2nd class.

Maybe you used a mod that alters the medals ?

I did a mod once time for me, and if i did not start a new game the units would not get the new medal if they had already more kills than the needed for that new medal. Weird but maybe something like this is happening in your game.

Not mod related as copy I use I keep mod free (steam) I had it where I had couple units not get Iron Cross 1st class only seems happen on the Iron Cross first class.

I had it first time on 17cm arty, never got 3rd medal on that one as vanilla German campaign didn't use it every map. But I did get 2nd hero on that unit just missing medal.

Suspect its bug, but it is strange only happens Iron Cross first class.

I finally figured out this mystery as it has happened a few more times, on either the Iron Cross 1st or 2nd class on arty units or AA units or even fighters I possess.
It comes from if you reach that threshold defending another unit, so if you hit 100 kills because you are defending a unit that is getting attacked on the ai turn you will miss being awarded your Iron Cross 2nd class.

This has no effect on awarding of hero's as I often have them awarded during defensive turns.

Glad I finally figured this out.
