1939 Scenario Start Date. 1939 8 1?

Post by rkr1958 »

If I open the editor and load the 1939 scenario the start data given is 1939 8 1. This is also reflected in the 1939.scn file. However; if I load this scenario and start a new game the date is September 1, 1939. Ahh! ... as I type this question I think I might understand. Are you using the C/C++ programmer's counting conventing, which starts at 0, for months so that 0 = January; 1 = February; ... ; 8 = September; ...; 11 = December. Is this correct?

If I look at the USA entry data it's given as 1941 11 1 ... so this seems to confirm the above.

I'm old school when it comes to counting ... I start counting at 1 ... I do have to accommodate the newer languages conventions which start at 0.

Slitherine have confirmed that months start counting with 0. 0 = January etc. I dont know why it's like this. Maybe they didn't expect to make the editor open for everyone so it was no need to fix such things.

Yes, the editor was just a bonus for players. It is the same tool used in development :)
