UPDATE: 11-18-15 Thermopylae 480 BC

Post by eddieballgame »

UPDATEL: 11-18-15 After a few more "trials" at this scenario decided to remove the hill in the pass. Some more research has turned up some more info on this battle. Such as the narrowest part of the pass may have been approximately 20 yds wide.
With some unit adjustments along with the removal of the hill ( simulated wall ), I have submitted a new version for anyone that is interested.

My first attempt at creating a scenario, thought I would try this historic battle.

Inside the extracted folder will be the folder which you will place in the
"FieldofGlory Scenarios" folder where they are saved.

I played the first version hot seat on yhe weekend. It was evident from looking at the oob the persians had no chance. The Greeks just crossed the ditch and rolled over the persians in less than 10 turns.

Some oddities. Regular persian foot at 1000 men per unit but immortal foot at 2000. Elite spartan are swordmen+.

Yes, I definitely guessed wrong on the strength of the Spartans. I have been trying to find a balance between the Spartans being able to inflict a tremendous amount of damage while still losing in the end. My last update is an attempt to do so. 2 hotseat games with a friend of mine resulted in the desired results.

Thank you for your reply. If you try the updated version, would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you, also, for the many excellent scenarios you have created.
