FW.190 upgrades

Post by ptje63 »

I'm currently at Houffalize in a first time battleround, mix between general and marshall level. I have two Fw.190's, but was wondering, since I have them for quite a while now: are there upgrades as there were several updated versions of the Fw.190A as time progressed. Me.109 goes from E to K, but the Fw.190 appears to stay the same.

I believe they go from FW-190A thru FW-190G models

You will get the D-9 at some stage. F and G models are tac bombers IIRC.

Its the improvements over the years of the 190A variant I mean, not the D-9 or F/G tactical bomber variants.

Hello, there is only one 'in-family' upgrade for the Fw190A, and that is the Fw190D-9, which becomes available on the 2nd of June 1944 (later than the Bf109K). It is only slightly more expensive but the only advantage it has is an air attack of 22. The rest of the stats are similar or worse, especially the fuel is much lower. Strangely, later on the Ta 152H is not part of the same family, although it actually was a straightforward development of the D-9... A little mistake I think.

Also, SE models are only available in the basic FW190A variant.

A long time ago, I made a quick-reference chart to see the in-family upgrade paths and introduction dates for the German units, you can download it from here:

Yeah, unfortunately in the vanilla game there are no upgrade options for the Fw 190A :( , even though it went through quite some improvements between 1941 and 1944/45. However, in my mod (Battlefield: Europe) I did add some of these (A-1, A-2, A-5, A-8).

Also, there are no upgrade options for the Bf 109G in the vanilla game  , even though it was in production between 1942-1945, with several important upgrades, too. So I also added some for this one (G-2, G-6, G-10/14).

And yes, the Ta-152 should be in the same upgrade family with the Fw-190D-9. :?
