Le Roi Soleil update crashes whole machine

This update has a problem somewhere, I have had my machine crash (not just the program) five times now whilst playing a LRS Skirmish. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometime after 3/4 hour, sometimes not at all.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1 and all latest updates on a Sony Vaio with 6GB of RAM

It's crashed another 4 times every time I do a skirmish, its unplayable!!! What is most annoying is it takes out the computer not just the game.

Can you please post the contents of the error.log file in .../Documents/My Games/PSCAMP immediately after a crash.

Taking down the whole machine says to me that it is overheating.

Then how come it never crashes when I am doing anything else other than playing the game.

Because games are more graphics and CPU intensives than the other programs, so the system might overheat specially if it's a laptop and its fans are not cleaned regularly.

Please try to disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game.
You can do this by running msconfig and disabling all non-windows start-up programs and services.
Then once you have disabled all non-Microsoft services, please run the game and see if the issue persists.
If it does not, please then reopen msconfig and reenable those services, one by one, until you find the program causing the problem.

After my last crash I cannot get into either Campaign or Save/Load direct from the start up page. All that happens is my system goes to 25% CPU usage and hangs. I then have to use Task Manager to close down the application.I can go into Skirmish or other areas. Here is my error log

Is there anything I can do to reset so at least I can run a campaign again.

Eventually got it back by reinstalling from Steam after wiping out my PSCAMP folder under My Games.
