Unit Speech mod

Have your experienced Panzer Corps with brilliant Company of Heroes voice acting? - Jesus Conrad tie your f*cking laces!
Or perhaps you once heard Marine Einhalt bestätigt Befehl from your submarines and would like to hear that again?
There are two major sound mods for Panzer Corps: Puma's speech sound mod and Real Sound Mod, here is a short review of them

1) Puma's mod

(+) vanilla PC sounds and authentic voice acting from other WW2 games
(+) variety (it has 3 move/attack sounds for each unit so you won't get bored hearing the same chatter again).

(-) outdated and Puma said he wouldn't remake it(
(-) its own complicated efx structure - not compatible with latest PC versions and mods.


2) Real Sound Mod (Redux)

(+) and (-) are its own sounds (some people would still love the vanilla)
(-) not varied - some units still have only one movement/attack sound
(-) doesn't have unit speech and authentic voices which IMO add so much to atmosphere of the game.


Objectives

So the big idea is to make a third mod (or perhaps a unit speech add-on) which would:

+ base on vanilla sounds
+ have at least 3 movement and 3 attack speech sounds for each unit
+ be compatible with latest Panzer Corps versions and mods

Problem checklist

1) 2015. Do you guys still play the game? I'd love to have a thorough replay but I cannot imagine playing without units speaking.
2) Maximum of 3 sounds per unit. Is that limit still relevant to Panzer Corps v1.22?
3) EFX.pzdat file modding. We need a gifted modder who would do the coding and multiply the existing values by 3. Or at least a comprehensive tutorial :)
VPaulus really tried to help me with that a long time ago but I forgot everything again.
4) Speech sounds are not a problem at all. I have plenty from other games and I can mix them together.
5) I have modded some RSM sounds with voices and found an interesting bug: a unit keeps repeating the same sound during the whole turn,
even when this unit has two more other sounds. I think that's because of RSM structure or maybe just bad luck of random numbers :shock:

Hi, do you know if Puma's mod really uses its own efx structure? It looks like it just uses the normal efx file (which contains 3 sounds for movement, and another 3 sounds for combat). So it should be possible to make it compatible to the current PzC version.

1) I'm still playing, and new (official and unofficial) content is still being made.
2) Yes, 3 sounds for movement, and another 3 sounds for combat.
3) My efx file seems a bit prone to corruption when saving/overwriting it often, but modding it isn't difficult as long as you are very methodical. Do you have any specific questions about modding it? I might be able to compile a tutorial or at least some useful info.

Well, Puma sorted units by type while in the vanilla efx they are sorted alphabetically.

Anyway I tried Puma's mod on v1.22 and it runs smooth except new Panzer Corps units (added since v1.01) use default sound. That's OK for me and so far didn't cause any problems.
