Need advice for Glory if Macragge: defense of eumenides
I'm stuck on the defense of eumenides scenario in glory of macragge. it is the same map as the end of Act I and a neverending flow of orcs, but no cavalry comes. The UM unit count available is insufficient to defend event two VP for the entire scenario let alone 7. This is on "challenge" difficulty. Have I missed something in a prior scenario I needed to do? Or some option in this one? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi ahscheiner,
I assume that you took the hint and defended the 3 bridge the way the victory points are placed...? If so, this is a mistake, which I did the first time ...
The picture here is on Turn 11, but the initial setup should look like that.
The Units:
At the castle:
At a certain point the Orks wont attack the left most bridge anymore, that is the point at which you should move one unit after the other up the castle and support your units there.

Turn 16:
And the closer views:
Castle:
Last Bridge:
At this Turn you should to get the last Victory Points, there isn't much left of the Orks at them.
I hope it helps, if not, try to figure out at what point the strategy fails and we can talk about it.
Cheers,

Re: Need advice for Glory if Macragge: defense of eumenides
Thank you for the detailed help. I tried something similar to your strategy but maybe need more support units or failed to move up to the castle in time. I will try again. I have also tried an interior strategy where I defend only the castle and the double victory point above the bridges and counterattack at the end. This has almost worked and destroys a lot of orks at limited cost, but just when the irks seem broken more ork armor arrives to block my counterattack at the end.
I find dreadnoughs more effective and survivable than other armor for the UM. Seems like a bug (which I reported in beta) but to survive this one to the end I need almost only dreads, plus whirlwinds as support, with terminators as infantry with devastartors support behind them all.

Yes dreadnoughts are a must have, i concur, but I also find tactical troops, especially the Ultramarine ones very useful. They are damned cheap to reinforce and are mainly a meatshield for the support units that deal the real damage.
Good Luck for your next try.
