Armed with digital camera I'll rty to tell this story in pictures. The Battlefield was mountainous - a few steep hills but the centre mostly open. Rossibal won iniative and was about to spring a surprise...

The two sides deploy and the Sartans quickly advance.

Rossibal springs his trap - Carthaginian cavalry arrive on the right flank on Turn Two!

Numbers favour Sparta o the left flank.

Numidian Light Horse pin down some of the Spartan hoplites in the centre.

In Right centre Spartan hoplites face Gauls, Campanians and Elephants.

On Right Flank Spanish MF wait for reserves as they face Rossibal's oncoming cavalry

Left Flank turn 3 Spartan chages cause slingers to flee, leaving gap for Spartan MF...

Carthaginian cavalry charge on the right flank, but the gods are displeased...

Left Centre the Africans had broken one Spartan hoplite unit but the Paphlagonian flank charge routed the Africans

Meanwhile the rallied slingers stalled the Spartan Left Flank attack - a stalemate here.

On the right flank the Spartans killed the flanking Carthaginian general and broke the cavalry but lost one unit of their own cavalry to some deadly death dice. Behind them the Spartan Hoplites had tempted the Gauls into an isolated charge and routed them and the Campanians.
Rossibal retired from the field of battle at this point 21-4 to Sparta!
