Games not showing up in multi-player

Post by Redpossum »

There are two separate issues here.

1) Sometimes when a player hosts a game, it never shows up in the games window. The person waiting to join sees the host disappear from the players window, but no game ever appears in the games window. This is obviously a bug.

2) This may be a bug or a design decision, depending on what your intentions were. Games already in progress when a player joins MP do not show in the games window. This is a very bad thing. If I join MP, and I see nobody there, I am going to leave. But if I join MP, and see a game in progress, I am going to hang around and see if one of those two players wants a game when that game is over.

I'm sure you see the importance to promoting MP here?

1) This is not really a bug. Its because the firewall of the person trying to host is too strong & prevents them from linking to other players. Gamespy cannot get through the firewall to provide a link. This person can probably join other games but not host them.

2) This is a feature of Gamespy. Once a game is started we have no way to see it. If we could do anything about it we would, but its actually all out of our control & inside Gamespy code.

This is not true. This is happening even to people who are not behind a firewall, like me.

Furthermore, it is not consistent. The same person can exit their game that nobody can see, start a new game, and others can see it.

We will talk to GS about this issue, as if it is not consistent then they should be able to work around it.

Thanks for letting us know

Cheers
