battle academy won't start correctly

I have battle academy through steam and recently, after opening battle academy it stays open for about 30 seconds, letting me do anything before freezing. it has no error code that pops up immediately, but there is a txt file in my game content folder called "error" that says:

I have tried many things, including reinstalling the game and deleting saves but nothing has worked.

Please check if your Internet security programs (like anti-virus, firewall, anti-malware, etc.) aren't interfering.

Delete the fine named OPTIONS.TXT that can be found at the Windows Documents folder at:
....\Documents\My Games\BBCBA

The Steam client has to be running in order to start the Steam version of BA.
