Blender 3D modelling support

Is there any chance to provide an MDT file exporter script for the free, multi-platform 3D modeling tool "Blender" to the community? Similar to the MCR exporter script Lukas provided for "3D Studio Max" in this thread?

Given the price point of 3DSMax, I doubt that many modders have access to that software... Also, are there plans to grant access to (at least some of) the original 3D models to use as a basis for modding efforts?
