Hi there,
first of all let me express my gratitude for Vietnam '65 - i bought it on friday for my iPad Air and couldn't stop playing. It is really impressive how much entertainment you get for 10 Euro.
But the reason i wrote is not only to praise you for this awesome game - i really would love to see a longer tutorial. It sure is good to know the basics but a few things like victory conditions and "why do keep losing hearts." would be nice to learn during a Tutorial.
So my question is: how do you establish a good and solid force? The more units i own- the more money i lose for supplying my troops. Is it better to concentrate on a smaller area during a new game or expand as soon and fast as possible?
Suggestions: random VC Tunnels: i think it would be cool to find Vc tunnels during the game. Since the Vc used lots of them i'd really love to see them and explore them to find exits and perhaps small storages you can use.
Living jungle: i'd love to see a reacting jungle! The jungle should react to player actions like napalm strikes could have a random nummer to destroy the field the player attacked. Once the field which once has a jungle is empty it should slowly regrow - perhaps too random.
Agent Orange: we all lost once a fleeing vc unit- why not call in some Agent Orange to remove the leafes - who will regrow (living Jungle)
GI actions in villages: i'd love to have more actions when entering villages- the Gi's could have 5 modes to react with the local population. Good- the Gi's will be really nice - listening the villagers and perhaps help them with unwanted vc visitors; cautious: the gis are cautious but will treat the villagers with repect and won't accuse them with vc collaboration; neutral - the Gi's will be on guard - no negative or positive reactions - good for first visits- suspicious: the Gi's will be rude and perhaps do something illegal like accusing villagers to support the vc- provoking reactions and losing hearts and increasing fear in that village - Hostie: the Gi's will treat the villagers poorly - raiding storages, killing livestock and doing everything to increase the fear of the villagers.
Thanks for reading all of this and hopefully you like an idea or too:)
Keep up the good work

Re: Question / suggestions
Hey,
Sorry for being nosey but couldn't help but read your comment. I'm also beta testing WH 40K along with you and others and having a blast, but was curious to know if Vietnam 65 uses the same mechanics like the game we're beta testing? I'm more into games that have a modern/futuristic theme, but Vietnam 65 just seems so appealing given the praise and reviews it's receiving. If you could let me know at your earliest convenience I'd appreciate it for I'll more than likely buy the game as well as WH 40K when released.
It started with Qvardiga, but now I've really drawn a interest towards some of Slitherine's game library.
Thanks in advance

Re: Question / suggestions
Hi there!
Firstly i am sadly not part of the beta testing group
But to answer your question: no it is nothing like Panzer Corps or Armageddon! This Game focuses on a few units with lots of management like resupplying your troops or supplying your artillery with ammunition.
It is really easy to play but hard to learn - but it's worth every cent and once you better understand the core mechanics like using your green berets right and strategically placing forward and fire bases you will love it.

Thanks for the supportRaldoron wrote:Thanks for reading all of this and hopefully you like an idea or too:)

It certainly is better to get maximum coverage across the map early on, otherwise the NVA get a foothold to the West and that ends badly....

Having said that, there are around three different core strategies to win this war game, so try different things.
Tunnels, Agent Orange and a deeper Intel conversation are on the cards for Vietnam'66, but we are doing Afghanistan first.
See you in Kandahar....

Thanks for really clarifying how to play for Vietnam 65 sounds like my type of game as well as purchase #3 from Slitherine (WH will be #4).

Just a heads up I'll be purchasing your game today or tomorrow thanks to Raldoron for being helpful in given me the skinny on how to play. I also backtracked to your earlier forums in reference to your Afghanistan game and sounds really cool! Is there a name as well as a possible release date?

Re: Question / suggestions
The Afghanistan adaption is well under way, as far as release dates go, I would not want to commit at this stage.
All I can say is that we are working at full speed and it's looking great
