:Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
Ok, having continued the US Campaign since taking the patch at Midway, I find myself in the Leyte scenario. I have defeated the Japanese Fleet and am one hex from capturing the last primary victory site on turn 46 when a twin engine Kamakaze appears out of nowhere and attacks a Supply Ship, which has a fighter CAP next, to it and sinks it. At then end of the turn I get a DEFEAT message. ??????????????? Not loosing a Supply ship is a SECONDARY victory condition. The cloaked Kamakazies are irriating enough but after slugging through 46 turns, with clear victory in sight, I'm handed a loss. This is REALY getting old as without the cheat codes this game would be unplayable.
Update: Two save reloads later, the Kamakaze failed to sink the supply ship and on turn 47 I was able to capture the last victory hex and was handed a win. Clearly the sinking of the supply ship triggered a loss condition for the scenario, which as it is a secondary objective, should not happen.

Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
IIRC A Primary condition is not to lose 3 ships. If you already lost 2 other ships the supply ship could be the third
Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
3 ships are 3 ships in anyone book, no matter if they are combat ships or not i'm sorry to say
Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
No, you are wrong.
It is no secondary objective. It is your primary objective not to lose more than 3 allied ships.
The blue ones on this screenshot. And let me elaborate, to protect them you are allowed to lose all your core and aux ships. But not more than 3 AI controlled blue allied ships.

well if being wrong was a reward, i'd have a chest full of them by now and it's not the first or last time i got it wrong, it's 50% with me i'm sorry to say
anyway replay and don't loose any

I was not refering to you. Please! It was for the OP.
Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
Hmmm nvr did lose a ship on this scenario. Kamikaze seems weak against most ship except transport and supply ship yet no kamikaze plane ever get past my fightet screen also I place AA on top and middle airfield hence I can see those planes incoming and a fighter on standby in the Essex carrier in the middle of those blue boats. Still I don't find this scenario challenging as my navy have build up so Japanese navy no carrier to tackle my BB. On land I find cheap infantry is better than heavy armor so my land force is full of marine n long Tom air I use a lot of p38

well as soon as anyone says it's wrong, i just assume it's me as it normally is tbhLongasc wrote:I was not refering to you. Please! It was for the OP.

It is rather implolite to assume that when someone reports a bug in the game that they have failed to read and understand the victory conditions for the particular scenario. Yes, I did read the primary victory condition "Lose no more than 3 Allied Ships". The wording "Lose no more than 3" means that you are allowed to loose 3 Allied Ships and you would fail if you lost the 4th. >3 does not = 3. The loss of the supply ship on Turn 46 would have been my 3rd ship. Either 1 of these 3 things are incorrect in this scenario:
1. The wording of the victory condition is incorrect and should read "Lose no more than 2" or "Do not lose 3 or more"
2. The victory condition checking logic is wrong and should be coded to look for a condition >3 instead of =3.
3. Failing the Secondary Victory condition "Do not lose any Supply Ships" triggers an incorrect failure of the scenario.
thanks,
Kevin

Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
it may be a bug and you may be correct, either way i'm sorry i did sound impolite in my reply tbh on a second reading and i'm sorry for that as it wasn't meant to be but does sound that way now
hopefully a developer will give a better answer one way or another and end this for the both of us, for me if your not sure, replay it again and lose 2 at max and see if it's any better, as i've played through 20 odd times plus but tbh can't remember and there's been fixes and patches since then so maybe be something new added or amended etc, either way sorry and good luck for a clean victory

Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
Thanks, As I originally posted, I did reload the last save a a few times and got lucky that my F4U managed to damage the Kamakaze enough to prevent it sinkng the supply ship. With only 2 vessels lost, I was able to sucessfully complete the scenario. On to Okinawa!
Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
I had the same experience; namely losing the 3rd ship immediately triggered a loss. The wording is wrong and should be corrected. Additionally, the term Allied ships logically means all ships on the US side in the scenario. If that is not the meaning, but rather refers only to the blue, AI controlled ships, then that also needs to be corrected.
Re: :Leyte Bugged - This is getting OLD!
Hmm kinda ponder me how izit that you guys can lose a ship? Kamikaze will not get pass without being seen and p38 shot them down fast which I have 2-3 IIRC as I favour p38 starting new Georgia and enemy ship from south is not much of a threat if you manage to torpedoes the BB. The only real danger I found is the north fleet which luckily my 2 BB manage to tank them long enuf without being kill and didn't lose any ship either.
Note: kamikaze plane from north west is closer to the fleet hence a AA on north tip airfield help me spot them and response fast
