No Kamikazes in the game
Midway after playing an single scenary, the game is missing something important, the Special Unit of Attack Japanese Shinpu, planes loaded with 250 kg bombs impacted their targets deliberately in an effort to sink or damage them so badly that they could not return to battle.
We hope that the new unit updates are added as the Kamikazes was historically correct.

Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
There's a Kamikaze specialisation in the game you can choose. Not at Midway though IIRC, but later.
Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
Kamikaze specialization is broken IMO. Don't make sense if you gave us when Japan is winning should be avail in midgame
Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
The first officially recorded Kamikaze attacks were not until the Leyte Gulf Campaign in October 1944, with the first casualties being escort carriers off the coast of Samar. these were the Santee, Suwannee, and St Lo on October 25th. There were recorded attacks by crippled Japanese Aircraft deliberately crashing into ships but not on an organised basis. ( Try Samuel E Morison ,Official History of United States Naval Operations in WWII, Volume 12, Leyte).
Hopefully therefore there won't be any Kamikaze units available till then as Midway was in June 1942.

Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
@Paswin, record of history was after Leyte where American first notice the Kamikaze. But in Midway those aircraft that was airborne when those carrier sink (talk about that where is Kaga carrier lol) those aircraft did make an effort to crash into American carriers.
Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
I certainly agree that it is quite a stretch when you're winning as Japan. Though as long as the feature is working I wouldn't say it's broken. The prob seems rather that excluding it totally would have prompted more "why is there no Kamikaze" requests, like the one in the OPsimcc wrote:Kamikaze specialization is broken IMO. Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
Also, when playing the US campaign, the AI will start to use the kamikaze specialisation in later scenarios.
So yes, kamikaze are definitely in the game.

oh my bad shouldn't use broken lol its working fine just the entry need to be early for IJ player hehehe
Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
bcnkor2, what you mean with Midway no Kamikazed. Real Kamikaze unit formations, or that Japanese pilots in deliberate acts made suicide attacks once their planes suffered critical damage?
Re: Midway no Kamikazes in the game
Two thoughts on the Kamikazes -- First, as already stated, they were not present at Midway. However, one looser definition would be any IJN pilots who attempted suicide attacks as also pointed out. Second, echoing James Jones in his book, WWII, in a sense the USN torpedo bomber pilots were suicidal in making their runs -- they went in fully aware at very low speed, at very low altitude, with unreliable torpedoes and without fighter escort. But they went in.

Paswin: Ok I see my mistake, October 1944, thanks for the rectification.

Re: No Kamikazes in the game
Playing the American campaign, I first noticed the Kamikaze at Okinawa.
Btw Devs, I just finished Okinawa and the game wouldn't continue if I chose the British Pacific Fleet. Tried several times but it wouldn't continue the campaign.
So, after reloading, I chose the atomic option and the game continued.

Time was invented so that everything didn't happen at once.
