Large Compulsory Terrain Costs 1 or 2 Towards Maximums?

if i choose a large compulsory terrain piece...i know the rules say a large costs 2 pieces and 2 quantity unless compulsory....but does that mean that the large compulsory only costs 1 towards the maximums of a type?

so...a large brush for hills ...3(1)...would just be 1 and still allow me to choose 2 more small brush???

Line 4, p140...compulsory pieces can be chosen as either size. It is not a selection, so doesn't count as 2 pieces.

If the compulsory piece is, say ,brush and you want it on a gentle hill, the hill is "free" so doesn't use up a possible selection but one gentle hill is deducted from the no. of gentle hills available.

As I understand and play it you are right i.e. a compulsory 'double size' only counts as a 'single' one size towards the maximum of type.
Ofcourse I may be wrong...
