What am I talking about?

The core unit listing. All kinds of units are mixed together. Carrier besides fighter besides Infantry, scroll down and you get Fighter, Bomber, Infantry, Infantry, Flak, Destroyer, Infantry, ... etc.

I would really appreciate if land - sea - air forces get either their own tab or grouped together. At least the same units should be listed together, e.g. all Wildcats, all Infantry 42, all Marines 42 and not listed totally out of order.

I don't know if you already grouped ground/sea/air units together with same type units in this future update?

E.g.
Infantry 42 - Infantry 42 - Infantry 42 - Infantry 42 - Marines 42 - M4 Sherman - M4 Sherman
vs (right now)
Infantry 42 - M4 Sherman - Infantry 42 - Infantry 42 - Marines 42 - M4 Sherman - Infantry 42?

Make the game sort by units.txt entries order where you already have sorted by class fine enough. That way you can always manually sort by your Excel data sheet or whatever you use, like it is possible in Panzer General/Corps too.

Currently they are sorted by purchase "date", so the latest purchase is displayed last. There are advantages and disadvantages to all sorting orders so perhaps we need to add a few options, probably in the options menu.

Okay, that sorting method isn't really a good choice as all the many comments about this so far prove. All these extra tabs and sort options in the game are still unnecessary (and waste of time/money), as these weren't really requested in a game like Panzer Corps either.
A good sorting can already be done without extra coding effort in your source data sheet IF the game sorts by file entry order. Sorting by class, [optionally series], then availability and lastly alphabetically should work fine for everyone.

Edit: I think one disadvantage of OOB compared to PzC is that the unit icons here are much larger what makes scrolling the force list more inconvenient. You could go through the list in PzC much faster and thus had less bummer with all this sorting.

Personally I could easily live with a sort by class, etc. as you describe.

But esp. when you got longer list(s) to scroll through those filters should do a good job shortening them.

Sorting by unit type is really the most important, and should be the default. When you are thinking about what units you want to deploy, people generally aren't thinking, okay, what is my newest unit? They are thinking, okay, how much infantry do I have? Where should I deploy them? Do i have enough artillery for this mission? Sorting by "date" could be useful on an occasion like where you just bought an awesome new tank and want to deploy it first, but that should be a more rare occurrence.

One other thing i would request is sorting by name, I like to roleplay and name my units to reflect a certain organization structure, like my two carriers and two of my destroyers are the 5th Carrier division, I have some infantry and other units in the 31st Infantry division, and so forth. It would be nice if sorting by name would group them all together.

While we are on the subject of order, can we please have a way to list and sort our combat leaders? Now, during the deployment stage, I have to go through my unit lists one at a time to figure out where they are assigned so they can be re-assigned before the next battle. It is cumbersome and time-consuming. Can this please get some love? Thanks.

Another agreement here for sorting by unit type. Filtering by type is marginally useful at best, but I like to always see everything I have, and having the sorted by unit type would be a beautiful thing.
