Wonderful game but bad performance kills it

Post by Ryben »

I´ve looked for this game expecting just a new Panzerkorps with a couple of changes but i´m happy to say that is a much polished and diverse game with lots of new mechanics.

Unfortunately the lagging issues mentioned by other users makes it nearly unplayable. I´ve tried to disable the spinning logo, updating the graphic cards drivers but, even with no effects and the lowest quality of graphics, on AI turns the game skips lots of frames and playing becomes an unpleasant experience.

I hope this could be fixed on future patch because, frankly, i can´t keep playing like this :(

Hi Ryben, is this happening (or worse) in a particular scenario or in particular circumstances (such as after long periods of play)?

Sometimes i have lags too after AI turn. I just restart game and it work good again. Sometimes crash it in load game or load next scenario. For lags in AI turn help when you zoom out screen.

It happened after a couple of turns in the "Pearl Harbor" scenario. The moment you can see the japanese planes moving it goes crazy.

It also happened in the next scenario on the Philippines, right from the beginning. It´s curious because the allied units that you doesn´t control are moving smoothly but the moment the AI is "thinking" and moving japanese units it goes haywire.

The original unpatched OOB version ran pretty smooth during the tutorials but since I patched to 1.83 I experience major lags, sound glitches after completing a mission and other nasty things.

My system is capable of running even more demanding games like CoH, GTA IV and others so the problem is optimization. I wonder what causes my graphics card to heat up so much like it takes part in those battles under suppressing fire. Those simple animations? Bloom? Weather effects?

Anyway the game is great but needs optimization badly. I expect more performance patches...

I am not experiencing these lags - all my problems are either limited memory causing crashes or my graphics card overheating on highest setting - I backed it off to high and very few problems now with that.

I do have one question the Slitherine PBEM notifier -it does not seem to work with OOB Pacific - it worked flawlessly with Panzer Corp - any plans to implement this? - very handy feature

When I originally purchased this game it lagged a lot. Shortly afterward (August 2015), I ended up buying a new computer, top of the line gaming PC, not alienware but close; and the game still lagged. Although inadequate hardware can cause such problems, I don't think this is the case for most users. During the AI turn, whether you get rid of the spinning flag, get the latest update, tweak the options or not, the game lags. It is a game issue.

I guess I am lucky. It would help if people posted some specs. Perhaps those with 4 gb ram? I run an I7 with 32 gb and a 660ti card (not the greatest, but I don't play FPS much)

Would propose to move this to the technical Forum. Also it helps the devs to at least state your basic PC setup such as OS, processor, gfx card, ram.
One thing could be the patcher - try to uninstall & reinstall.

I've been playing it since the day it was released, both single and multiplayer, and I've never had a performance issue. Other problems but only with multiplayer, not single player.

Give the developers some specifics.
