Support Ships
Fantastic game guys. Really enjoying it.
I can't seem to figure out support ships. I'm in the third battle of the Japanese campaign, the first major Naval engagement. I am trying to use the support ship that comes attached to the southern battle fleet and the repair option is always grayed out. The tooltip says it can't repair if its been involved in combat so I've tested that several different ways and always grayed out. I looked in the manual and didn't see anything other than a couple sentences about repairing at see is slower than in a port.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Re: Support Ships
I believe the support ship must remain static for 1 turn before it can repair other ships. Neither the support ship nor the "repairee" can be involved in combat during your previous turn or that of the enemy.
Bet practice is to position the support ship(s) at some distance behind the fleet, and retreat damaged ships toward them while NOT moving the support ship. One the damaged ship is adjacent to the support ship, it should be repairable next turn.

Re: Support Ships
The repair ship and the repairee can not have moved in the previous turn

Including removing mines, and maybe any action at all.Falke_MatrixForum wrote:The repair ship and the repairee can not have moved in the previous turn
Re: Support Ships
I've got a support ship moored beside a carrier turn after turn, with nothing happening to that carrier (no planes landing, no movement, nothing) Is there a limit to repairs to one vessel? The carrier has been repaired once.

Re: Support Ships
I didn't even know that was possible. I thought ships had to go to port to repair like in Panzer Corp.

Well, it's hard to tell from your post what you know and what you are doing or not doing. However, you say that the carrier has been repaired once, so you should know the procedure and that it does not happen automatically. If not, see these screen prints on how to do it (scroll the pictures to see the control panel):mikekt wrote:I've got a support ship moored beside a carrier turn after turn, with nothing happening to that carrier (no planes landing, no movement, nothing) Is there a limit to repairs to one vessel? The third screen print shows me about to repair the same ship again, so there is no limit to repairs to one vessel.
Presumably, you have read the previous posts in this thread to know that neither ship can have moved or engaged in combat (offensively or defensively) in the prior turn.
So, that leaves two possibilities in mind:
1) You are trying to repair the carrier when it is already at full strength, or
2) You have insufficient resource points to make any repairs.
Sorry, that's all I got.

Re: Support Ships
I may very well have been lacking the resource points to repair the carrier. I looked to see whether a tooltip popped up to tell me the resources required for repair, but didn't see anything. I know some actions have a cost, like Commando sneak attacks or bridge building...but they always give the cost.
Anyway, that's an easy enough solution.
On this topic, does the medic behave the same way? I wouldn't think so, I assumed they gave free repairs.
EDIT: Just gave this a test last night and yes, support ship repairs do cost resource points, but there's no indication how many points. I don't know whether there's experience loss.
Darn, I was hoping for a way to save up some cash.
