Deploying allies

Since we describe troops when they are deplyed do we need to say their origin, or just the troop types? e.g. LF, Unprotected, undrilled, bow. Or e.g. Thracian, LF, Unprotected, undrilled, bow, Allied

They must be "fully defined". Which of the above definitions is fuller?
