Drilled or Undrilled Skirmishers; why should we care?
Why do we need to worry about skirmishers being drilled or undrilled? They act the same in the game . . . don't they?

Re: Drilled or Undrilled Skirmishers; why should we care?
There is one case where it matters - a BL of undrilled skirmishers and drilled artillery needs a CMT to move and tests as undrilled.Onomarchos wrote:Why do we need to worry about skirmishers being drilled or undrilled? They act the same in the game . . . don't they?
Seriously: the CMT table has one score to pass for "drilled or skirmishers" and another one for "other undrilled".
So the difference between drilled and not drillled is style, not substance . . . and the former having to get up early in the morning and do a route march before breakfast.
Remember, drill is its own reward.
