Xbox Achievement: I fought at Arnhem...

Hello,

I ran into a possible bug last night. I've been completing (and enjoying) the campaigns in their order on the title menu. A few days ago I made it to the Market Garden campaign and as of last night I had completed it. However, upon completion the achievement never unlocked - this is the first campaign that has given me this issue. I was wondering if there were any hidden requirements, such as difficulty level, etc. I've noticed that other people have successfully unlocked it, but not nearly as menu who have unlocked the other achievements, so I don't think I'm alone.

I can go back into the campaign and load the autosave file and it shows all 8 scenario's as being beaten (with the awards check for them as well). I'm worried about trying to play through it again as each scenario takes me close to an hour. I'd hate to invest a second run-through to not see it unlock again.

Any tips that could help me out?

Also, thanks for fixing the bug with the awards not being displayed as check marked on the mission select screens! I appreciate it!

Is there a small star next to the selection button on each mission? This star shows that the game thinks the mission is completed.

While I think that the lower ach completion is probably due to the tough carryover nature of the MG campaign, it does seem possible that there is an unlock bug of some kind, but the code is so simple I can't see what could break!

Thanks for the reply. I'm certain that campaign is all listed as finished. I know that I finished it entirely as I viewed the quick ending screen after the last mission. It took me multiple days/sessions to finish it. I'm a member of a website/community that tracks achievements and I've noticed only 2 other people have unlocked this achievement. I messaged them both earlier and one responded - I wanted to share his response here.

I had the same problem, tried all sorts to get it to work and in the end just carried on through the other campaigns. The Metz campaign is terrible due to lots of units on a small map.

I went back to Market Garden. Started new from the main list and did the whole thing in one sitting and stayed up until silly time and it popped. I did not save, just let it auto save.

All I can suggest is to copy what I did as it was the only one to glitch on me. Can't promise it will unlock for you second time but it did for me. I had tried loading last mission, second to last mission and everything, nothing worked except new playthrough in one hit without saving.

All I can say is good luck. They patched the game once and another was due after I completed it. Whether second one has gone live I don't know. First was to fix lag/freezing, second to fix sound. It does seem like they care so if you are unlucky second go then maybe mention on their site. Feel free to mention me and my problems and refer them to my blog for evidence if needed.

The proof it that the Market Garden is my last achievement, all others I worked on in order on the menu list.

I wanted to link his blog, but the forums won't allow me to put an off-site URL as a new user. I can message it to you if you'd like. It seems like he had the same issue and progressed with the other campaigns. When they all finished he re-did Market Garden all in one sitting and it unlocked. Perhaps this is related to it being a carry-over campaign and the save/load system not carrying completion progress between sessions?

I took a look for that star and it is indeed missing.

If I click the campaign from the main menu and cycle through the scenarios it is not present on any of them (yet the awards show as checked).

If I load my autosave from scenario 8 it appears the same way - no star, but the awards show.

It's weird, though, because to even access scenario 8 you have to have completed 1-7 due to the way progress in a carry over mission works. If the issue ever gets resolved - it would be an idea to humor the thought of just awarding the achievement based on completing mission 8 since you need to do the previous ones to access it.

Just to confirm the above, I have completed 75% of the game but the Market Garden achievement never popped after completing the final eighth mission twice.

Info:
The little star is indeed missing from the individual scenarios.
All the scenarios except the last one say "locked - carry over missions must be done in sequence"
All the scenarios except the last one have the award stars UNTICKED. The final scenario is all ticked.

I have unlocked everything except Sealion, Rommel in Normandy and Bulge. I had no problems with saves. Someone else reported they got Market Garden to pop by doing no saving at all.

I tried moving the autosave file to mem card (so it is recreated) but that never fixed it.

Ok that aside congrats on a superb port to xbox. As an old fan of the close combat series on PC I was delighted with what looks like the same engine and mechanics upgraded to 3D!! The best WW2 tactical combat strategy I know.

Thanks for the info guys. With the help of your information I did manage to track down the issue and you are correct, the ach will only unlock if you play through in one sitting, which is a royal pain for sure. I will fix it up and hopefully Microsoft will allow us to put another update through, though it will probably take a few weeks to get it done. Sorry for the inconvenience

Assuming Microsoft allows you to post another update, will it require those of us who already played through Market Garden to play through it again, or will it be retroactive (sort of like the fix to the check-marks on the award stars)? Or, can we just replay the last mission? I'm just curious so I know what to expect should a patch arrive - thanks!

Should we do a patch, I will ensure that the patch only requires the final mission to be completed, rather than a complete replay.

Fantastic news, thanks for the update! I'll test it out later this week and see how it goes.

In the interim, I had my fun with Great Battles Medieval while waiting for news on this!
