Commanders in Evade and Charge moves

Post by evernight »

Something I didnt realize, when a BG breaks and it has a Commander with it and starts to rout, supose that the commander's base is the last file, if the pursuer enemy touchs it, does it count as a effective touch, as if the pursuer had touched the the BG?

..........^
[BG][BG][BG][BG]
[BG][BG][BG][BG] (Routing Battle Group)
.........[C] (Routing Commander)
[BG][BG][BG][BG]
[BG][BG][BG][BG] (Pursuer BG touchs Comander's base of the routing BG)

And in the case a BG is already fighting in CC with in the front, and recieves a charge from behind where it's commander is (only supporting, not fighting in the front), (very similar to the example above, differs only that the attacked BG is stationary and already fighting), how to procede with that? How do the bases conform? How many dices to row?

Thanks for any help

Hi - a Commanders base is a marker only and not actually part of the BG, even if he has temporarily joined it.

So in your 1st example, if the pursuers do not touch a base of the routing BG, they have lost contact. Just move the Commanders base somewhere else in the BG so the gap is clear.

Similarly in your 2nd example, the rear charge must contact the BG - it does not stop when it touches the Commanders base.

Take a look at page 52 - last bullet, left hand side.

If the charge still contacts the BG in the rear it will drop a cohesion level (if appropriate) and the contacted bases are turned to face the rear charge. Work out the dice as normal.

Hope that helps.
