Got a great idea for a game - why not post it here!

Would you want to play a battle simulator that could pit various generals and armies from different eras against each other?

Versus: Ancient Arenas

Post by robindavies »

I once saw a very cool TV show on the Discovery Military Channel which featured 2 real life generals, one American and one British pit there wits against each other on a virtual 3D battlefield, the American assuming the role of Hannibal and the British general playing Alexander.

The graphics were easily comparable to what you guys are creating but made for some pretty interesting fighting to watch/play... different armies and generals of different eras duking it out.

(Alexander won, by the way... the old cavalry smash to the flank trick).

I think that there could be a great computer game in there somewhere...

Now this got me thinking... would anyone else want to play something like that?

I do not actually,

The main reason is I always like a realistic campaign of some sort (Such as Spartan). I only rarely play custom battles.
Second is, how would it be balanced? If the Era's taken are to far away from each other, for instance a 15 century army versus a Frankish tribe of 500 bc, it would not be a fair fight would it?
It is an original concept and may be great as an expansion or extra content upon an existing game, but to make an entire game out of it would not be interesting enough for me.
