Can you tell us where you purchased the game and what it is packaged with? Which publisher/what country.

Hello, I have a similar problem. I purchased the game online It came in original packageing (or appeared to ). It was purchased in North America and came complete with play instructions, no install instructions, and the DVD. (This is the PC DVD-ROM version)

When inserted in the DVD drive I will get a splash screen or box with the title of the game and some smaller boxes below with national flags for GB, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. When I do a roll over with my cursor the little boxes will light up and a disagreable sound effect (cymbols, snare drum snap, etc) will play. Left clicking will accomplish nothing. Right clicking will cause the game to crash with a notification from the operating system that the program has been unexpectedly terminated.

The movie does not play nor does the game start or install. Even when I initiated a manual install, the program will not run. It is monitoring the DVD player because I get immediate notification whenever I open the DVD drawer that the DVD-ROM is open and please close or insert DVD and close. Once the drawer is closed the warning goes away but nothing else happens. It knows the DVD is loaded but that is all.

Operating system is Windows XL. DirectX version is 9.0c. which is the latest. Computer meets all the recommended standards. Dual core pentium processor (2 GHz each), 2 GB of RAM, 240 GB free hard drive space. I have a goo 3D hardware accelerated video board. I have also tried to load this on my laptop which a little slower (1.8 GHz single processor, 1GB RAM, normal video card which shares memory with the processor (64 MB set asside for video, 3D supported). Both systems run Windows XL as an operating system and has DirectX 9.0c. Neither system will run the game or even the intro movie. Unfortunatly, I don't suppose you guys allow PC games to be returned.

Installing is very simple so there are no instructions - all you do is put the DVD in the drive, select the language and then click install. If that does not work it could be your DVD is damaged. In this case you need to contact your retailer as they are responsible for dealing with any damaged stock.

What is Windows XL - you mean XP?

It is very odd that left clicking on the buttons doesn't work. It's even more odd that right clicking causes a crash, as the installer app doesn't even take notice of the right clicks.

Have you tried navigating onto the DVD and trying to run the installer directly? I don't have the DVD in front of me, but I would imagine there is a SETUP exe file on there which should launch it.

Cheers

Do you have any security programs like anti-virus scanners, Zone Alarm, copying programs like Daemon Tools, Alkohol 120%, or virtual drives?

If so...try disabling these as they can conflict with the games copyprotection and prevent the game from installing.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll answer all three at once.
1) pardon my finger slip. That is Windows XP Version 2002 Service pack 2. I slipped and hit L instead of P.

2) The Disk does not appear to be dammaged, but visual inspection is not always sufficient. I do not think this is the problem though. (see next)

3) I have navigated to the DVD and run the installer. It installs the game, or appears to, but when I try and use the shortcut it installs on the desktop (which goes to the autorun.exe) it dies again.

4) Symantic anti virus reports no problems with GBoR...

5) AHHH! but the answer came to my mind after reading all the posts together. Instead of using the shortcut put in place by the install program I went directly to the directory where the game was and started the THCGBoR.exe program. Success!

Not very intuitive but eventualy things started. Now to see if they run too. He he.

Thanks
