Fog of war is not visible

Post by Billy_tk »

Playing on my notebook, it is not possible to see the fog of war in the game. I guess it depends on the performance, but is there any possibility to activate the "darker map"option, allthough the performance of the pc is low? It's quite a disadvantage in a multiplayer game!

Are you sure you turned on FoW from the options before the game started - it defaults to off.

Yes its activated; I play the same game-session also on my other pc and there the fog of war is visible to me. On the low performance system the FoW is also active (you cant see units behind you sight-radius), but the sight-radius isnt visible for the player (all hex are bright). One Note: on the low performance system its also not possible to zoom in on the lowest level. Only Two Zooms are available. It may depends on the graphics card?

What are the specs of the PC and what option did you choose - Low or High RAM? What other programs are you running.

It could be that you're running out of memory.

Only 512 MB Ram; 1,6 Ghz Pentium M; Intel Shared Graphics Card; I've tested both options: high and low Ram settings with no positive result

It does sound like a memory issue - it's a minimum spec machine and if there are any programs eating up the resources or if windows itself has taken a bigger chunk than normal it could push you over the edge :(

We'll keep a record of it though and if we can find a way that might fix it we'll patch it in.

Yes, the inner zoom level is disabled for low spec users. FoW is in effecty if you select FoW in the pre game setup, but only shown directly on map via tinting if you play the high spec option.
