Light chariot clarification

Post by martindneiluk »

In table B) Combat Mechanism it says Chariots shoot "1 dice per base" but in the Gallic list light chariots do not list a shooting capability. This looks wrong. I assume light chariots will shoot with javelins?

Bow armed chariots distant shoot, javelin armed ones don't. The same applies to cavalry and medium foot with javelins. Only skirmishers get to shoot with javelins.

This was a design decision because we found that allowing heavier troops distance shooting capability with javelins produced unrealistic historical results.

We did have some discussion as to whether light chariots should be an exception, but decided that on balance they should not. It was a close call.

Effectively they throw their javelins in the Impact phase.
