Steam Version 1.6 beta game wont start

Hi, I bought this today off steam and the game won't launch once I select any campaign from the single player menu. I upgraded to the 1.6 beta, installed it in another directory (C:\games\steamapps\common\Commander The Great War as opposed to D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Commander The Great War) and tried to run ctgw_steam_d3d directly with no joy. I've attached the log file and dxdiag, there's no autosave log file - any clues?

*edit* I've also reinstalled / repaired the C++ files with no luck either

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your game.
You have two graphic cards, are you running them in SLI or do you have two monitors?

I unfortunately have the same problem.

Up to 1.5.2 the game ran without problems, but since it was patched to 1.6 via steam, I can click the play button in the launcher menu without any result - the game simply does not start.

- I uninstalled the game, deleted all remaining files in my "mainuser/..." directory, reinstalled it to a different directory (which once worked with another steam based game), but no result.
- I set all of the settings in my Kaspersky anti virus/firewall to "approve", so the game is not restricted any more, but this did not help either.
- I updated the drivers of my (very old) NVIDIA GeForce GT 240, tried different resolutions, Windowed mode, with- and without intro, but the game still refuses to start.
- Finally I checked the error.log file and it always says: KERNEL MEMORY CHECKING IS **OFF**

Could anyone please give an advice what else could be wrong with my system or the game?

Thank you for the suggestion. I did not try this yet, but finally found a solution reading other threads of the tech support.

I had to go to the .../OpenAl/2.0.7.2/ directory and there double click the "oalinst.exe" which installed OpenAl and made the game start correctly.
Now the game runs without problems - I only wonder, why OpenAl was not automatically installed during the steam installation of the game?

Anyway, now I can enjoy the game , thank you for the support.
