limbered artillery interpenetration

Post by deadtorius »

Had a really odd situation today. A limbered artillery unit wanted to move through an infantry unit from a different division. The rules say any unit can pass through as long as the unit is either artillery or skirmishers. The French argued that one unit was artillery so could pass through.

What are your thoughts, they can pass through any unit or the reference above refers to a non artillery unit passing through an artillery unit only?

Other question was the above only meant for deployed artillery or does limbered artillery count for free interpenetration?

I think the rule on p.40 is pretty clear. Permitted interpenetrations - "Passing through any friendly unit may be performed regardless of facing if either unit is skirmishers or artillery." So yes they could pass through and it doesn't matter whether they're limbered or not.

Thank you, wasnt sure if being limbered would change anything or not.
