Perimeter Patrol Mission. First Act

I captured all three victory hexes in time, but still loose. Am I missing something?

I think on the one you mean, it says 3 in the briefing, but you have to capture 4, or else a certain VH is essential but you're not told which. So just go for 4.

This is the mission where you either counter attack or patrol the hive.

Not having much luck with this one. I run out of time and can't get through the pass to get the last VH.

What build are you using? Heavy on infantry? Armor?

I'm playing it through the intro campaign. Just normal difficulty, so my tactics must be faulty.

Any suggestions would be welcome on how to tackle it.

I use half infantry, half tank. I move fast and take the high road.
I can take the three VH just fine, but I can't win the mission. So my advice is flawed.

I take the lower two just fine but can't break through the last line of Orks for the upper right VP. Always run out of time.

Take your time: you have plenty.

Bring 3 basilisks, couple of annihilators, two salamander commands, the walker you got to start with, couple of hvy bolter inf and couple of command inf (inf with chimeras). A balanced, not too gamey force.

Go down and wipe out the orks around the first objective. If move your tanks up front and support with salamanders and arty you should take no losses. Occupy the objective once all orks are dead. Now move right, set up a good mech line, backed with hvy bolters and artillery. Occupy the fortified objective and smash the orks as they approach.

Occupy the 3rd (empty) objective.

Now use your artillery and/or other long-range firepower to remove ork artillery, tanks and support units. Orks are passive and loathe to attack your hi-defense units.

Once the enemy has been decimated, move in and secure the last objective.

On normal you should have taken 0 casualties. On higher difficulties you may have to take some slight losses to keep the time table,

My advice is to have two units from each category plus one or two HQs. Use standard military tactics- tanks and armor encircle and disrupt the enemy, infantry and artillery follow to close the gap. In this particular mission trenches make withstanding enemy assault easier, and thus make it easy to kill overhelming masses of orks.
