At first glance it can be hard to get a feel for the turn's news. I think it would make things a little clearer if the color of the title bar for each item in the news items was different based on what type of news it was: Green for good random events, Red for bad random events, Blue for routine informationals (like _______ building upgrade complete), etc. A slight change in background color for the text area might be helpful as well.
