Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
“Valor is stability, not of legs and arms, but of courage and the soul” (Michel de Montaigne – French Writer)
Sword, Juno, Omaha, Utah, Gold! 5 names that made their mark on history forever. 5 Normandy beaches that shattered the Atlantic Wall and brought a decisive advantage to the Allied forces in Western Europe. 5 thorns in the German side that made Berlin tremble. This massive seaborne operation was one of the main turning points that gave victory to the Allies!
70 years after the Normandy landings, players have the opportunity to relive this key moment of WW2 in Frontline: The Longest Day. They will have to lead their troops across beaches heavily defended by veteran soldiers of the Wehrmacht. Finding a path through minefields, bunkers, artillery barrages, and antitank barriers will require courage and tactical science! Successor to the very successful Frontline: Road to Moscow that reached the top of the charts on iPad this past spring, The Longest Day keeps all the ingredients that made the previous game highly addictive while introducing brand new battlefields, plenty of units, and more complex combat mechanics for an intense experience of the D-Day operations!
Today we have the pleasure to announce that the game from developer 88mm is finally released on all platforms. So whether players own an iOS, Android or PC device, they will have a chance to jump on a Landing Craft Assault and fight on the frontline with the Allied forces!

zakblood - did you get it on PC or iPad? I'm thinking this would be a great game to play on the go on my iPad.
How is it so far? I never played the first Frontline game. How is the game system and mechanics? Is it different enough from Panzer Corps, or just more of the same?
Thanks!

pc only mate, its basic so for a first time player its fun, for panzer corp type players, it may or may not be there cup of tea, for £3.00 is good fun and cheap, but no it's not WITW but who cares its almost free and for a quick bit of fun for a few hours played far i have enjoyed it and well worth that, if it was priced higher, then no i may not have bought it and saved up for something else in the sale
as it's my games so i'll play and cheat how i like
you can zoom in and out, so have good overall control of the views, plenty of units types seen so far, money is tight so may edited that as well

Man, the game just came out and you have already played it for a few hours! Don't you ever work?
I don't expect a WITW type game at all, but it does look almost exactly like Panzer Corps. Just something simple and fun, that's all I'm looking for. However, I have read about bugs and very poor support on the iPad version, so I will wait and see how this shakes out.

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
I have just downloaded the above from Steam. The user Manual is a 3 page document relating to installation of Frontline: The Road to Moscow. Without the user maual I cannot use the game ! Anyone any idea how I can get the correct Manual ? Can someone at Slitherine provide me with the appropriate link,
Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
i bought from here, and tbh you don't need the manual, as the one for frontline is the same i guess, very basic but the game is easy to use and learn, unless someone knows differently that is
i have the longest day manual in pdf format, but it only tells you how to install, not play tbh
i'd say post normally in tech support but as there still is no forum for us here atm, you can't do that even either...

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
To be honest, I don´t see the need to buy this.
Just another WW2 game in the look of Panzer Corps.
Why not make an WWI or Korea or Voetnam scenario instead ? Would be more appealing to me at least....

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
well here's a little guide i have done showing the very early basics of the game for those like me have bought it and maybe need more info, or for others still on the fence, it's £3.00 in the sale and can't think of a reason not to tbh
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.as ... =
its a guide come manual, come after action report come what ever, or just a waste of a few mins of time for me to make or you to look at.....
either way enjoy
oh and btw, i would have made it here, but forums still locked here so i or others still don't have permission to even post in there as yet

Just purchased it and let me say a nice little game, for that money absoulut ok.
Question : is it possible to save the game between the rounds or do i have to start it from the beginning ?

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
no you can save it after each turn if you like, just click exit and save, then restart it, take 2 seconds max to do it, but yes not the greatest way of doing it, but it does work, and if you want more than one battle at once going, alter and back up your saves
AppData/LocalLow/Slitherine/Frontline/SaveData xml file
copy to elsewhere, then play as another, then you can have mission one saved and mission to as well, so can replay any in any order you like from any of your saves, as it seems to only have one save atm, which isn't a problem either
hope that helps, didn't even get to do the beta on it but still know my way around from last version
as it's not changed

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!
the save game is made each time you do a turn, to save it, just press save and exit
the save is in a hidden directory in windows
this pc/ user/ your name/AppData/LocalLow/Slitherine/Frontline/SaveData xml file and you will have to un hide the folder and directory to even see it or view it and then edit it...
if not sure about it, then don't do it
