Modding question

Post by dadrunk »

Hi.

I have an idea to start modding for this game but i really don't know if it's possible.

I had some ideas :
- Change the mecanism of the game to match with the official Rulebook of Wh40k
( in exemple, the caracteristics of each units, add some rules ... )
- Is it possible to add a mod where each player create a custom army at the beginning of the game and deploy it ? ( same as a normal Wk40h game ) The army follow the simple rule : 1 QG + 2 troops minimum.
- in a far future, add more factions ( this thing can be the easier )

I just try some games and i don't really know if some rules are in it.
( per exemple : Armor saves )

Plus the Editor doesnt really work, impossible to charge a custom map. I have the impression the Tools Menu dont work ...

More modders are always welcome. But...

This is impossible.

This might be possible via workarounds, depending on how much simplification you're willing to acept.

Provided all the game files actually work as (appearently) intended - this was not always the case in Panzer Corps - this should actually be relatively straight forward. The elephant in the room, though, is that new units need new graphics...

Which parts exactly do you think aren't working? Maybe you just don't know yet how to operate them?

Or just technically impossible ?

I tried to create a ( very ) basic deathmatch map.
I tried the "validate scenario" tool, but nothing happends.
When i want to open the "options" in tool, nothing happens too.

Maybe it's just because i didnt put any units on the map, i was thinking that it was possible to create an empty map and adjust the option " deployement" in the scenario options, to allow players to deploy units they want.

( sorry for my bad english )

The latter. You cannot make any changes to the combat rules as the game has no scripting engine and there's no source code access, nor are the combat variables laid bare in datafiles. It's not possible to make such changes.

Oops. You're completely right, the editor seems to be partially broken. Good call. If there is not a thread about this there yet, you should report this in the Tech Support forum.

A very unfortunate situation for the editor. We've been making posts about this and we are definitely aware of it. Thanks for your report and patience regarding this matter.
