How is the hotseat mode working?
Exactly the question in the title, and what means "paired" in the multiplayer menu?

Hot seat had some issues so is not in the current version. We're going to get it fixed and back in ASAP.
You issue a challenge and accept your own challenge and then just play like you would normally. You play your turn, it downloads it, you end your turn and it uploads it, then the next player plays his turn.
Paired games means playing the same scenario from both sides. E.g. if it is Ork vs Blood Angels you get one game where you are the Orks, one where you are Blood Angels.

Wait! SEROIUSLY? You mean that to play a hotseat game I MUST be connected to your server?IainMcNeil wrote:You issue a challenge and accept your own challenge and then just play like you would normally. More so - I`ll have to upload/download it again and again manually?
Sorry, but this is not a hotseat mode. This is some form of a raped online multiplayer game. I can`t even recall a single title that had such ridiculous approach to hotseat...

No you don't have to do anything - you just click play turn and it handles it all for you automatically. It's really quite simple and popular on other games that have it.

In current MP game you click 'end turn' and get yourself dropped down to lobby where you just sit and wait starting to constantly refreshing at some 5-10 minutes of waiting. Your opponent can not even be aware of your actions. He can even be far away from PC and even not planning to continue the game in near future - and you sit and click wasting your time on waiting. I don`t see any fun in wasting my time this way. And before you start explaining that there is an e-mail notification system - I have yet to receive a single e-mail for the now finished three 20+ turn games. Waste of time, no communication, constant need to open/close/load/unload UI elements after the turn != fun.IainMcNeil wrote:No you don't have to do anything - you just click play turn and it handles it all for you automatically. Now about the hotseat. The fact that you end your turn and once again drop to lobby then refresh, then select, then click 'play' - provides you with tons of unnecessary clicks and transitions/loading time. Hotseat mode is as simple as 'click end turn - change player - click play' without the pointless transition to lobby and back. Hotseat is a fast offline game, not some weird PBEM simulation of it.
If hotseat requires constant internet connection - than it is as bad as no hotseat at all. What if I go to someplace where there is no Internet connection? Oops, our hotseat is not supposed to be played offline? NICE.
